The Most Overlooked Sale of the Year (That Can 2–3x Your Revenue)
For years, we kept our promotions very simple.
At Erin’s Faces, we ran two sales a year:
Black Friday and our May sale.
That was it.
And almost every year, that May sale 2–3x’d our revenue for the month.
Why a May Sale Works
May hits at just the right time.
People are already in a shopping mindset around Mother's Day and are actively looking to see which brands are running promotions - you’re showing up when they’re already ready to buy.
I’ve been working with a lot of my clients on their spring sales strategies, and wanted to share three things that really matter if you’re thinking about doing one.
3 Tips to Make Your May Sale Work
1. Make a clear, compelling offer
You can run a straightforward discount - percentage off your total. This is what we did, and it works beautifully.
Or you can take a page from brands like Osea and May Lindstrom, who offer a full-size product when you spend a certain amount instead of discounting.
Either way, have a mini banner at the very top of your site that shows up on every single page and clearly tells your offer.
2. Lean into what feels seasonal on homepage and in marketing
-
Lighter textures or brighter colors
-
SPF and sun protection
-
Travel-friendly products
And speaking of marketing -
3. Get your marketing materials ready now
Before the sale starts, you need to map out:
-
How many emails you’re sending and what your messaging is
-
What your imagery looks like for email and social
-
What your social strategy is - what are you posting each day of the sale?
-
What your website banner will be
Running a spring sale is one of the simplest ways to create meaningful momentum in your business.
Put it on the calendar and let me know how it goes - it's always fun to have a great sales month!
